Northern actress Jazmine Franks began her television career at just eight years old and has since built an impressive body of work across both television and theatre.


She is best known for her seven-year role as Esther Bloom in Channel 4’s hit soap Hollyoaks, where she appeared from 2011 to 2018 and became widely recognised for her portrayal of the much-loved character.


Alongside her acting career, Jazmine is also a qualified personal trainer and competitive powerlifter, demonstrating the same dedication and discipline in sport as she does on screen.

Get to know JAZMINE...

Jazmine began acting at an early age, making her television debut when she was just eight years old. During her early career she appeared in a number of notable television dramas, including guest lead roles such as Kirsty in the 2006 miniseries Johnny and the Bomb and Jane Morris in ITV’s The Second Coming. She also appeared in popular British series including Channel 4’s Shameless and BBC One drama The Street, establishing herself as a promising young performer.


In 2011, she joined the cast of Channel 4’s long-running soap Hollyoaks as Esther Bloom, a role she would go on to play for over seven years. During her time on the show, Esther became one of the serial dramas most recognisable characters and was involved in a number of powerful storylines. One of the most widely discussed plots saw Esther at the centre of a major bullying story, which generated significant public attention and highlighted the impact of bullying on young people.


Following her departure from Hollyoaks in 2018, Jazmine has continued to explore opportunities across acting and theatre. In 2022 she starred in the national theatre tour of Shakers: Under New Management, taking on the role of Adele and showcasing her versatility as a stage performer. Alongside her acting work, she also appeared on Pointless Celebrities, where she competed for charity alongside her Hollyoaks co-star David Tag.


Outside of acting, Jazmine is a fully qualified personal trainer and a competitive powerlifter. In 2019 she placed fourth in the bench press category at the European Bench Press Championships in Germany, demonstrating her commitment to strength training and athletic performance.


She is also passionate about giving back to her community and supports a number of charitable causes. She is a patron and volunteer for Manchester-based homeless charity Barnabus, where she dedicates time to supporting people experiencing homelessness across the city.
