Award-winning disability advocate, TV personality and digital creator Jay Howard rose to fame as the first disabled cast member of Channel 4’s hit series Married At First Sight UK in 2023. Quickly becoming a fan favourite, Jay captivated audiences with her northern charm and refreshingly honest perspective on life with a limb difference, using the platform to openly share her experiences while raising awareness for the disability community. She has since expanded her work across television and presenting, most notably fronting the disability-led female panel series Unfiltered Women for ITV1, available to stream on ITVX. As a prominent disabled public figure, Jay has received recognition for her advocacy work including an award at the Power of Women Awards and an invitation to the House of Lords celebrating inspirational women. Across socials she connects with a highly engaged audience of over 269K, where her honest and empowering content regularly reaches viral audiences.

Get to know JAY...

Jay first came to public attention in 2023 when she appeared on Channel 4’s hit series Married At First Sight UK, making history as the first disabled participant to feature on the hugely popular series. Throughout the show she quickly became a fan favourite, winning viewers over with her humour, warmth and candid approach to discussing life with a limb difference. Her openness on the programme helped spark important conversations around disability representation while educating audiences about living with a visible difference. Her series was subsequently nominated for a BAFTA TV award and long listed at the National Television Awards.


Following her success on the show, Jay continued to build her career across television and broadcasting. In 2024, she fronted the world first disability-led female panel series, Unfiltered Women for ITV1, which is also available to stream on ITVX. The mini series brought together a group of disabled women to discuss relationships, identity and everyday life with honesty and humour, with Jay leading the conversation as a co-host. She remains the only former Married At First Sight UK cast member to go on to front a series like this with another major UK broadcaster.


Alongside her television work, Jay has become a prominent voice within the disability community. She is a charity ambassador for Reach, the UK’s leading limb difference charity, where she continues to support and advocate for individuals and families living with limb differences. Her advocacy work has earned national recognition. In 2024 Jay received an award at the Power of Women Awards and was also invited to attend a prestigious event at the House of Lords recognising inspirational women across a variety of sectors.


Jay has continued to work with Channel 4 supporting with campaigns for the Paris 2024 Paralympics and interviewing Strictly Come Dancing champion Chris McCausland for the channels Alternative Christmas Message. She joined the Pride of Britain judging panel alongside ITV News for the Regional Fundraiser of the Year award - and she regularly appears as a guest speaker, delivering talks about her lived experience as a person with a physical disability as well as accessibility and inclusion within the workplace.


Across her digital platforms Jay shares honest, relatable and humour-based content focused on disability awareness, everyday life and personal empowerment. Her videos frequently achieve viral status with millions of views and she has partnered with a number of leading brands across campaigns including Currys, Dyson, Primark, Mitchum, AO and AO Arena.
